5 February - Update from the Captain

Hi sailors, If you have been following the flap on the Yahoo site you can ignore it. That is just the other holder group airing its own affairs. As a new Class Association we applied to MBYC and SDYC for admission to their regattas. Jim Rosaschi is the class coordinator for those events for Holder 20 One Design, both of those Yacht Clubs, as well as, US Sailing, have recognized us as a distinct and separate class association from the other holder 20 group. We choose to not engage in the rhetoric that they are famous for, we are simply offering a sailing venue for like minded Holder 20 sailors. You can come sail with us as Holder 20 One Design or you can go sail with them, we wish that there is a good turnout for both classes. Like any One design class, all boats must comply with the one design rules, this is no different than any other one design class. Many classes require measurement certificates, we will simply be looking over the boats for non-one design modifications. the major points of interest will be sails, rudders and spinnaker poles. If you have a question about whether your boat meets One Design Requirements you can find them on this site.

I hope that this clears up any confusion created by some members of the other group. Hope to see you on the water.

Rod

P. S. for the Midwest fleet, After Mike gets back from vacation we will be having our spring meeting at some restaurant and date to be announced later. Because we have not secured a sponsor from a west coast yacht club, the Holder One Design Nationals will again be in the Midwest, Possibilities, are Madison Lake, Lake Pepin, or some place in Wisconsin, like Pewaukee or Lake Geneva. I will be working on it.

BTW Pay your dues please, the form can be printed from our web site, it is included in the newsletter.
